Clubs & Societies
Students at The Oldham Academy North can join a wide variety of clubs and societies that enrich experience and build confidence, independence and leadership skills.
We have sports clubs in football, cricket and netball throughout the week both during and after academy hours.
Further activities designed to enhance students’ classroom learning include Languages Club, Food Technology Club, Robotics Club and ICT Club. Each club allows students to make full use of our excellent facilities including sports hall, 3G sports pitch and ICT provision.
If it’s English that you are into then we have our film and journalism club or if you are aspiring to mastery then why not try out the KS4 students “Shine to 9” club, aiming to push students to a grade 9 in English.
Our Duke of Edinburgh programme aims to put students expedition skills to the test offering the opportunity to do an overnight camp after a hike including being responsible for all your equipment and cooking your evening meals.
Woodlands lunch club
Every day our Woodlands lunch club is open to students who wish to access a quieter place during social times. As part of our lunch club, we support students with valuable life skills and promote a “family” environment where caring and sharing is the centre of what we do.
Woodlands lunch club has been allowed to grow organically and has naturally gravitated to a film club where students get to choose a film of their choice.
Brodie, our therapy dog is always on hand during lunch club and students get an opportunity to interact with him outside of the classroom environment, he works wonders for students (and staff) who may be having a challenging day. He brings a smile to everyone’s face.
