Hello Year 6 and welcome to our transition page.

We are delighted that you are joining us in September and we can’t wait to meet you. We understand moving from Primary School to Secondary School can be an exciting but anxious time for both students and parents and we are committed to ensuring the transition is as smooth as possible for all students.

We have put together a range of resources and events to help you get to know the academy and introduce you to key members of staff who are here to support you through your transition.

Key dates

To help make the transition from primary school to secondary school as smooth as possible we will be hosting a range of informative and social events for you to join. Please see the dates below and put them in your diary, more details of each will be sent to you prior to the event.

This will provide parents with the opportunity to ask staff any questions they have and be welcomed to the TEAM.
Transition Day 1Wednesday 5th July 2023TBCStudentsOn these days our new cohort of students will be invited into the academy for 2 days to experience what a day in the life of a TOAN student is like. Students will take part in lessons with a range of different teachers and meet their form tutors who will guide students through their first year as a TOAN student. This is a great opportunity for all of our new students and parents to feel welcomed into our TEAM. (Click the button below for more information)

Year 4, 5 and 6 Open EveningThursday 6th July 2023Year 6 Transition students 2.30pm onwards

Year 4 and 5 students 4.00pm - 6.00pm
Students and parentsOpen to all Year 6 students who have been given a place at TOAN for September 2023. Year 4 and Year 5 students are also invited into the academy to see our incredible facilities and meet our amazing staff. This will provide parents with the opportunity to ask staff any questions they have and be welcomed to the TEAM.
Year 6 Taster SessionsFriday 14th July 2023TBCStudentsStudents from certain primary schools will be invited into the academy to carry out a range of taster sessions in music, drama, art and sport to gain an insight into the exciting opportunities we have for all students at TOAN. More information will be sent to the relevant primary schools prior to the event.
Year 6 Sports DayWednesday 19th July 20233:30pm - 4:30pmStudentsOur new year 7 students are invited to attend a mini sports day at TOAN. This will include sports competitions, giant inflatables and a chance to meet students who will also be joining TEAM TOAN in September 2023.

Welcome Packs

Over the next few weeks all Year 6s who are joining us in September will receive an exciting delivery of goodies through their Primary school. It will also contain information on our upcoming events, more details of which can be found below.

Personal Visits

We welcome parents and pupils to come and visit the academy before September to see the academy in more detail and talk to staff about any support you may need ahead of your transition. Please contact michael.james@toan.e-act.org.uk or roushi.lancaster@toan.e-act.org.uk to arrange.
