STEM event with the RAF

28 June 2018

The Year 9 students had a fantastic experience at the RAF STEM event at Old Trafford on Thursday. The main objective was for them to design and make their own motorised aeroplane using a range of different materials that they had purchased from a shop.

The team that could make their plane fly the longest distance, taking into account the money spent on materials were the winners.

Our students really enjoyed the task and worked well as a team and individually, coming up with some good designs. The group also learned about various roles within the RAF that cater for students with a keen interest in STEM subjects like Science and Engineering.

Unfortunately neither of our teams won the task but they created a couple of really good planes, and once again were a credit to themselves and the school.
